Parametric Solid Modelling

Parametric Solid Modelling is a feature in CAD which enables
the designer to create components and parts as solids while the
program provides an opportunity to alter dimensional detail at
anytime during the process. When creating solid parts, material
properties can also be defined, so that a mass (M) can be
obtained based on the volume (V) of the object.
Solid modelling permits a designer to store the parts that are
created in a database and assembled to other components to
create an assembly. The assembled parts can be simulated to
define the operational characteristics of the machine.
Furthermore the designer has the option to determine the Stress
and the Strain relative to each part, enabling them to identify
failure prior to building the parts. This offers the designer an
option to create and test a machine at low cost without needing
real parts.
